Haven't done a "Friday Funny" in a while but my good buddy B-Rad @SportsMulligans "gave it the old college try" to pull out my GE Oven from the wall and some how lifting on the door caused the glass to shatter.

I told him I wouldn't send the picture to Facebook, so I had to do it the old fashioned way (e-mail & text). You learn a lot about people by how they respond to such news; personally, I laughed because there's no reason to pile on; it was just dumb luck and I wanted him to know it wasn't the end of the world. But my favorite response was from Pit-Stop.

From Pit-Stop; "Awesome, not even sure how one would do that. On the plus side, a. Realtor could now sell the home by stating: Home has central air/heat with additional zone heating in the customized industrial themed kitchen."

#WorldSeries Game 6-Instant Classic!

If you counted the St. Louis Cardinals out when they couldn't get a hit out of the infield and trailed the Rangers 4-7 and turned off the television, you missed out on an instant classic! Talk about a bizarre yet exciting game: the constant lead changes, Napoli picking off Holiday on third, the Cardinals defensive errors, Josh Hamilton's 2-run jack in the 10th but somehow the Cards came back to tie the game, into the 11th inning when the hometown kid David Freese went yard to win the game-what an ending!

My #World Series themis for both teams-"Un-friggin-believable"! Whomever wins later tonight in the first game 7 in 9 years has earned it! This Series reminds me why I love baseball and why I watch the World Series!

Music Man was a crowd favorite, evidently the banana pudding was a big hit because it was scraped dry on the buffet. Sadly, we didn't get to eat there because the crowd cleaned them out; I guess a testimony to how good the food was.

I saw the "R-Word.org PSA" @ 11 am this morning and I'm not sure it's apropos (begins w/ the n-word, spic, chink, fag & kike) for when kids are watching tv. I donate to the Special Olympics each year (full disclosure: I haven't donated this year) because it is a worthy cause to get behind. Since we are in the midst of Spoleto, I found this apropos to share not just to explain my post from earlier but to note the relationship b/n Ravel & Charleston's George Gershwin already famous for his opera Porgy and Bess. Gershwin asked Ravel for lessons in composition in 1928. Ravel asked how much Gershwin made, once he told him, Ravel famously responded, "The Monsieur Gershwin, I think it is I who should take lessons from you".

Last night, I was reading Jeffrey Gitomer's "Little Red Book of Selling" my friend Dave lent me which on a side note: is fantastic, no bull-sh** kick yourself in the rear guide to bettering yourself and your mindset; and probably shouldn't be read right before bed because it will keep you up. So, to keep with Gitomer's "If you're not learning every day-your competition is" mantra; I decided to find out what that familiar song on this Burger King Commercial was. Reflect on the Mechanical Nature

Hopefully someone (just as I was) is searching for on the internet to find out what that unchanging "ostinato" rhythm being played as tension in the piece builds with the orchestra or in Ravel's own words, "This song has an insistent quality; I'm going to repeat it a number of times without any development gradually increasing the orchestra as best I can" is playing in the new Burger King & Coca-Cola "Irresistible Attraction" commercial and has just found the Bushido as a resource because I have been that guy who can't find the answer the "world-wide-web". To no avail, I spent a bit of time searching for it myself on the internet: BK official site-nope, You-Tube has every other guerrilla marketing video except this one. iTunes and Facebook were a bust as well. Finally, I decided to knock the dust off of my classical music boxes of old compact discs and search through my collection and alas, victory is mine.

Basque in Glory

Maurice Ravel's "Bolero" premiered in 1928 at the Paris Opera and is named for the Spanish dance the Bolero as the piece shares rhythmic similarities being in constant three-quarters time with a prominent triplet on the second beat of every bar. Ironically enough, the original title for this piece, which was commissioned by Russian ballerina Ida Rubenstein as a ballet, was "Fandango" which is an Andalusian couples dance in triple meter. Finally, according to the SACEM (Societe dea Auteurs, Compositeurs et Editeurs du Musique)

I'm just getting into Gitomer's "Little Red Book of Selling" as I am searching for a job in sales and doing my homework to try and learn all of the nuances and language of the industry to get in the game. But oddly enough, he writes a lot about what Jenny and I have been talking about recently as I look to her for guidance: for instance, I mentioned to her that I need to be around more positive people who don't suck the energy out of me because they are such negative downers or jealous haters who think it is a race to the bottom of mediocrity as I cultivate my philosophy and path towards more success. Gitomer of course had it right there as one of the "differences between failure and success in salespeople" (actually, I think this can be applied to anyone not just those in sales)-"Have the right associations: Hang around the right people, other successful people. Stay away from poison people-the one's who can't seem to get anywhere. Have a mentor or three. Who do you hang around with? That is who you are likely to become."

I'm just starting to read this book and I can already recommend you go out and buy it or click this link and get it off Amazon.
